SUMMARY: Under the direct supervision of the FVPP Program Director, the Family Violence Prevention Advocate will provide direct services, advocacy development of safety plans and coordinate emergency related services to victims of family violence. This position will collaborate proactively with Nevada tribal communities focusing on education, outreach, and prevention. This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week and requires some overnight travel.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• High School Diploma required.
• Must have a valid Driver’s License and dependable.
• Experience working in domestic violence or social service-related field, preferred.
• Knowledge of grant-funded programs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Advocacy and provide emergency services to victims of family violence, processing program intakes, conducting initial assessments, and providing crisis intervention.
• Work closely with tribal law enforcement, tribal social services, tribal court systems, and all other related Native American and non-Native American related agencies and organizations to develop a network of resources available to clients and victims.
• Maintaining adequate participant data and statistical information for grant reporting and audit purposes utilizing an electronic record system.
• Develop brochures and flyers for outreach event opportunities.
• Travel to outlying and rural tribal communities to conduct presentations, training workshops, and assist victims seeking assistance from the program.
• Always maintain the highest degree of confidentiality and professionalism.
• Distribution of hygiene, food and other essentials as needed.
• Participate in all staff meetings and provide feedback and information.
• Maintain and lead weekly staff meetings for Elko office projects.
• Maintain effective communication among office staff and report results directly to the Program Director.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

• Track and assign employees to outreach tasks to expedite the approval process for outreach events. Including coordinating travel rotation with advocates between rural tribes
• Coordinate with the outside offices for upcoming presentations to northeastern area tribes to eliminate duplication and proper assignment
• Assist in coordinating the overflow of clients per advocate ratio and report the ratio directly to the Program Director.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Must possess a valid Nevada’s Driver’s license, a reliable vehicle with insurance and have a safe driving record.
• Experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Ability to know how to use Zoom video.
• Must have excellent computer skills.
• Ability to be on-call for client and victim calls 24 hours per day, 7 days a week when scheduled.
• Must have excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
• Must be available for possible overnight travel to outlying areas and rural communities.
• Ability to work independently, but most importantly part of a team.
• Ability to provide excellent customer service both internally and to clients and colleagues.

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSCIAL REQUIREMENTS:

• This position operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, and filing systems.
• May be required to travel frequently to tribal communities throughout Nevada, including overnight stays and occasional evening or weekend meetings to attend community events, job fairs, or training sessions
• Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, and participate in community outreach events indoors and outdoors.
• Flexibility to work evenings or weekends on occasion, depending on program activities or special events.
