Assembly Technician

Job Summary DIS-TRAN Packaged Substations is looking to hire a Factory-Built Substation (FBS) Technician to work from our Port of Alexandria Facility in our Assembly Department. As part of a team, the FBS Technician assembles custom factory-built substations, reading blueprints, erecting steel, assembling, and operating machinery, and more. The individual must perform duties with speed and accuracy to produce a quality product and maintain a steady flow of products. Core Competencies Customer Focus Decision Quality Business Insight Drives Results Collaborates Communicates Effectively Courage Instills Trust Manages Ambiguity Essential Duties and Responsibilities Successfully apply simple hand tools such as wrenches, hammer, screwdriver, etc. Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits. Position and align parts to form complete structures following blueprints and layout specifications, using machinery and hand tools. Recognize, set up, and operate hand and common power tools. Move parts safely into position, manually or with hoists or cranes. Keep the warehouse property in order, including routine maintenance and grooming of grounds and facilities, and perform regular and preventative maintenance on all company equipment and machinery. Attend safety meetings as requested or instructed. Operate all machinery and equipment, including the company’s forklift, in a safe manner at all times. Promote company goals. Work to displays an excellent safety record. Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent required. Read and understand measuring devices such as tape measurer, rules, and combination squares required. Perform simple shop math (add/subtract fractions, decimals, and whole numbers) required. Experience applying simple hand tools such as wrenches, hammer, screwdriver, etc. required. Experience working in a warehouse or manufacturing environment preferred.
