Occupational Therapist (OT), East Palo & Redwood City ($10,000 BONUS)

Position Summary We are a small, dynamic team within the Special Education department that is committed to facilitating educational outcomes for students that reflect their interests, abilities, and potential. We divide schools geographically among our team, enjoy each other as co-workers, and appreciate the unique role we play in serving the students of KIPP Public Schools. The caseloads are very manageable, and we have planned for growth in each of these positions. The available therapist position will work with our five KIPP schools in the East Palo Alto & Redwood City area. This full‑time in‑person position reports to the Lead of the OT‑APE team. Required Qualifications Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution. Certification through the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). Current license to practice Occupational Therapy through the California Board of Occupational Therapy (CBOT). Experience Prefer a minimum of three years of experience providing occupational therapy services (but not required). Prefer a minimum of one year of experience providing occupational therapy services to children in school settings. Education Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution. Knowledge / Skills Required Demonstrated knowledge of various school‑based Occupational Therapy assessments. Demonstrated desire and success in working with students and families from educationally underserved areas. Ability to work independently in school settings. Ability to travel within the SF Bay Area with own transportation (mileage reimbursed between schools). The position is based in East Palo Alto & Redwood City, but the therapist may be expected to travel 1–2 times per month to other cities within the Bay Area. Knowledge / Skills Helpful Bilingual (Spanish or Vietnamese) is beneficial but not required. Familiarity with SEIS, PowerSchool, and Medi‑Cal billing and data systems is helpful. Essential Functions and Responsibilities This OT position will be the sole provider of in‑person OT services across five KIPP schools in East Palo Alto & Redwood City, CA. The OT must demonstrate the ability to screen, evaluate, score, and write reports, perform both direct and consultative services, track and bill services through online programs, participate in IEP team meetings, and support all School and SPED teams. The OT must align with and abide by KIPP Schools NorCal's missions and standards. This OT will be part of a larger OT‑APE team and should be willing to support team members as needed. Physical, Mental, and Environmental Demands Physical: Ability to navigate office and school campuses, hold meetings in different spaces, move equipment, and occasionally lift/carry items 1–30 lbs. Physical agility to execute duties effectively, including kneeling, walking, pushing/pulling, squatting, twisting, turning, bending, stooping, and reaching overhead. Mental: Manage deadlines, analyze problems, generate alternatives, make professional decisions, work with interruptions, concentrate for long periods, read, calculate, perform routine math problems, memorize, and recall objects and people. Environmental: School environment with constant interruptions and distractions. Travel as needed ( Classification This is a full‑time, exempt position based on a school calendar. Occupational Therapists are paid a 10.5‑month salary across 12 months of pay periods. The start date is July 1, and the end date is June 30. The position is considered a Regional position, but the OT will have a home‑based school out of one of the KIPP Stockton Schools. Driver's License Must possess a valid California driver’s license and have access to reliable transportation for work‑related travel. Compensation KIPP Northern California offers a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and transportation benefits.
