As a depository and commercial lending provider with over $1.3 billion in bank assets as of December 31 2024, we operate with over 100 employees in Washington DC and Los Angeles/Inglewood, CA. Role Summary The commercial credit analyst II reports to and supports the Senior Credit Officer in managing the bank’s loan portfolio. The role handles complex lending relationships, including occasional underwriting, and serves as a senior subject‑matter expert internally and externally. The analyst is responsible for approvals, annual reviews, monitoring, and watch reporting for the assigned portfolio and does not have direct business‑development responsibilities, though the analyst must recognize and refer opportunities to the appropriate bank area. Essential Functions & Responsibilities Portfolio Management – 40% Monitor a portfolio of commercial loans, risk‑rated, analyze financial viability of the customer, and develop and implement strategies for collection. Identify potential problem loans, recommend risk‑rating changes, and manage newly identified problematic loans to upgrade their risk rating. Recognize revenue opportunities in the portfolio and follow through on routine credit requests; ensure client retention and meet credit needs within bank comfort. Credit Support and Underwriting – 60% Analyze and spread customer financial information, assess collateral, perform delinquency reviews, industry comparisons, and risk‑rating assessments; prepare debt‑service coverage calculations. Prepare written presentations detailing analytical findings. Assist with monthly management and board reporting, including research on anomalous portfolio items. Participate in the ongoing CECL implementation, manage data integrity for the ALLL during transition and parallel tracking. Leadership and Supervision Create a workplace atmosphere that supports morale, aligns with the organization’s vision, values, mission, and team expectations, and delivers best‑in‑class customer service. Contribute to the development and implementation of annual department goals and individual objectives. Qualifications Education & Experience High‑school diploma or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field required; an alternative of 3 additional years of commercial credit underwriting and analysis experience may substitute for a bachelor’s degree. At least 4 years of commercial credit, financial statement analysis, portfolio management, and customer service experience. Completion of formal or in‑house credit training required. Preferred Experience Experience structuring and pricing loan transactions to achieve organizational goals. Certifications None required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and other credit‑analysis systems; hands‑on working knowledge of a bank core system (e.g., FIS, FiServ). Strong supervisory experience. Uncompromised attention to detail and the ability to solve problems through research and application of experience. Experience with commercial, construction, and real‑estate loan underwriting and an understanding of the bank’s balance sheet, including ALLL. Proficiency with PC operation, word processing, and spreadsheet software. Knowledge of related state and federal lending and compliance regulations and bank lending policies. Preferred Strong supervisory experience (duplicate). Uncompromised attention to detail and eagerness to problem‑solve. Organized, detail‑oriented, ability to communicate over the phone or in person, work independently, and set priorities with little supervision.
