Social Worker III – Child Welfare Services The Social Worker III carries a complex and difficult caseload involving determination of need for social services for individuals and families, including both children and adults; performs assessments and eligibility determinations, develops individualized case plans, and serves as lead worker over subordinate staff as needed. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to: Respond to reports of suspected abuse, neglect, and exploitation; obtain information from reporters; personally investigate and assess situations to protect vulnerable adults, and recommend alternate placement if applicable. Provide case studies, evaluate individual and family case information to assess safety, and determine appropriate treatment types and methods. Develop and carry out case plans for an assigned caseload; ensure services are delivered respectfully, culturally sensitive, and in compliance with agency, state, and federal requirements; assist clients and families in developing strategies to accomplish case plan goals. Counsel or support clients with complex or specialized needs; provide crisis intervention. Refer clients to community resources; advocate on clients’ behalf for appropriate services, including enabling services. Diagnose client problems and follow through with treatment plans with a high degree of independence. Education and Experience One (1) year of full‑time journey‑level social work case management experience equivalent to Social Worker II. OR Two (2) years of full‑time journey‑level social work case management experience in a public or private agency *plus* 30 semester units (or 45 quarter units) from an accredited college or university, including 15 semester units (or 22½ quarter units) in social welfare, social/human services, sociology, or related social or behavioral science. (Example courses: anthropology, criminal justice, ethnic studies, human development, psychology, and sociology). Licenses and Certifications Valid California or Nevada driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record. Additional Requirements Pre‑employment medical screening may be required, including drug testing.
