Registered Nurse

Description Responsibilities and Duties: Working under the supervision of the Registered Nurse Manager, the primary responsibility of the Registered Nurse (RN) for MillarRich Foster Care Services (FCS) is to provide oversight and care to ensure the medical needs of the children served are met and maintained, through the ongoing training and support of MillarRich employees and contractors responsible for administering medications and monitoring the health of all children served. The Registered Nurse (FCS) maintains a rotating on-call status to respond to urgent and/or emergent health-related situations for children and youth supported. MillarRich is a trauma-informed organization that values empathy, open communication, and respectful collaboration. The Registered Nurse (FCS) demonstrates a strong awareness of how trauma can impact individuals and communities and approaches their work with compassion, cultural humility, and a commitment to inclusivity. Specific duties include: Coordinates and facilitates medical training for employees and independent contractors (e.g., Medication Administration, Caring for Children with Special Healthcare Needs, Individual-Specific Specialized Medical Training Plans of Care, etc.); Oversees the electronic health records of children by conducting routine audits to ensure accurate medical documentation and follow up; Reviews prescriptions for accuracy, appropriateness, clarifying with provider when needed, adding new medications to electronic database and uploading files; Assists with obtaining prior authorizations and consents when needed; Assists with the coordination of care with other RNs, Medical Doctors (MDs), pharmacies, and other medical professionals as needed; Inputs medical information into electronic database for new children served; Participates in the Initiation of Services (IOS) meetings and process including potential referral packet reviews, meet and greets, observations, and intake meetings with the Intake and Transition Coordinator. Provides telephone triage and in-person triage as needed that could include home, healthcare, and hospital visits for children served; Assists with coordinating and facilitating access to Durable Medical Equipment (DME) supplies, medications, and additional supportive services necessary for the care and well-being of children served by the agency; Works with Clinical Services team members to continue developing and enhancing a robust, interdisciplinary, and holistic approach and training to care for children; establishing and maintaining strategic partnerships with outsourced clinical practitioners (e.g., physicians, psychiatrists, registered nurses, behavior analysts, therapists, etc.), practitioner organizations, and practitioner providers; Participates in Clinical Services meetings, FCS leadership and development meetings, Treatment Team Meetings, and other Department of Children’s Services (DCS)/state meetings as appropriate; Participates in disruption Child & Family Team Meetings (CFTM) for assigned caseload and others, as needed; Participates in incident management reviews and meetings, as needed, to identify trends and develop risk mitigation strategies; Provides nursing coverage for other MillarRich services, as needed; Documents efforts made toward collaboration, Foster Parent training and guidance, document obtainment, meeting attendance, etc. in the FCS documentation system; Maintains professionalism and open lines of communication across all departments, and with individuals served, their families, and other Circle of Support team members; Other duties may be assigned as circumstances warrant. Requirements Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics: Registered Nurse (RN) degree required. Minimum of two (2) years’ experience as an RN, including a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in pediatric care, with a minimum of one (1) year of experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and/or medically fragile individuals strongly preferred. Current certification as a Certified Developmental Disabilities Nurse (CDDN) or Developmental Disabilities Certification (DDC) is preferred. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification is preferred. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Interpersonal/human relations skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Knowledge of computers, specifically database systems. Ability to maintain records and files. The ability to effectively communicate through verbal and written mediums. Ability to work autonomously. Time management and follow-up skills with ability to plan, organize and prioritize a large workload, and handle several tasks simultaneously. Ability to carry a cell phone and maintain rotating on-call coverage. Knowledge of DCS policies, rules and regulations preferred. #J-18808-Ljbffr Paylocity
