Job Summary Operates laboratory equipment and supports day‑to‑day laboratory processes to ensure reliable radiological gas analysis operations. Performs routine maintenance, basic troubleshooting, calibrations, and preventive maintenance of specialized instrumentation including gas chromatographs, vacuum systems, pressure measurement equipment, and radiological gas separation and measurement equipment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Operate laboratory processing equipment following written laboratory procedures and technical manuals. Record data accurately from received environmental air samples and perform gas separation across multiple laboratory sections. Analyze samples and report measurement results using specialized radiological counting instruments. Perform calibrations and basic preventive maintenance routines. Communicate data findings to management and technical staff. Track inventory usage and notify appropriate personnel as needs arise. Maintain laboratory housekeeping standards and adhere to safety policies and EHS standards. Perform end‑of‑day safety and security procedures. Complete all work assignments with personal accountability, teamwork, initiative, and quality. Supervisory Responsibilities This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Competencies Technical aptitude to operate specialized laboratory and radiological gas analysis equipment. Ability to read, follow, and clearly communicate written technical procedures, manuals, and work instructions. Strong attention to detail with accurate data recording and documentation. Organizational and time management skills for prioritizing tasks across multiple laboratory sections. Effective interpersonal skills and teamwork for daily coordination with other laboratory areas and technical staff. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and exercise sound judgment. Commitment to safety and security requirements, including consistent use of safe work practices and compliance with EHS standards. Qualifications High school diploma required; vocational or technical certification preferred. Minimum of two years of direct production experience in a technical environment or scientific laboratory. Associate’s degree or two years of college‑level science‑related coursework highly preferred. Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Writing routine reports and correspondence; speaking effectively with other employees. Mathematical skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, rates, ratios, percentages, bar graphs. Reasoning skills: apply common sense to follow instructions given in written, oral, or diagram form; solve problems involving multiple variables. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel. U.S. citizenship is required with the ability to attain or maintain a government security clearance.
