Respiratory Therapist | Per Diem

Location: 5189 Hospital Road, Mariposa, CA, 95338, United States Base Pay: $35.7 - $45.28 / Hour Required Degree: 2 Year Degree Join Our Team as a Respiratory Therapist Location: Mariposa, California – Gateway to Yosemite National Park Department: Cardiopulmonary Openings: 2 Position is Union represented by AFSCME Local 2703. Position Summary As a Respiratory Therapist (RT) at John C. Fremont Healthcare District, you will assess, treat, and manage patients with deficiencies and abnormalities in the cardiopulmonary system. You will perform diagnostic testing, administer respiratory treatments, and provide critical support in emergency interventions. This role also involves consulting with physicians, providing education and direction to staff, and ensuring that respiratory care is delivered safely and effectively according to District policies, department protocols, and regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities Perform standard and complex diagnostic tests, including arterial blood gases and EKGs. Administer prescribed respiratory treatments, including medicinal gases and aerosolized medications. Perform arterial punctures, blood gas analyses, and tracheobronchial suctioning. Provide tracheotomy care and assist physicians with intubation and ventilator management. Conduct cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and respond to emergency codes. Set up and operate respiratory therapy equipment safely and accurately. Monitor telemetry when required due to staffing or operational needs. Maintain accurate patient and departmental records, ensuring compliance with quality assurance and infection control policies. Communicate effectively with physicians, nursing staff, patients, and families. Requirements Current valid California State Respiratory Care Practitioner License. Registration by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) and the Respiratory Care Board of California (RBC) as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT). Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification. Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Healthcare Provider certification. Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification. Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – completion within 90 days of employment. Cardiac Monitor Tech (CMT) certification – completion within 90 days of employment. Summary Wage Range: Based on union placement within the listed wage range.
