This Lead SLP position is designed for an experienced clinician who wants to make a broader clinical impact without being limited to a traditional full caseload. The role's primary focus may include assessments, individualized care plans, supervision, clinical mentorship, documentation quality, and ongoing care plan management.

How The Position Can Be Structured

Part-time leadership focus

The part-time role may be structured primarily around assessments, care plan development and management, SLP/SLPA supervision, clinician mentoring, documentation oversight, and clinical consultation.

Full-time blended focus

The full-time role includes the same clinical-leadership responsibilities plus some individual and/or group therapy. The therapy caseload and weekly mix will be established with the selected candidate based on clinical strengths, professional interests, availability, and clinic needs.

Essential Responsibilities

Assessment and care plan leadership

• Administer, score, interpret, and document formal and informal assessments for speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, voice, fluency, and swallowing needs, as appropriate to the patient and setting.
• Develop individualized, evidence-based care plans and goals based on evaluation findings, patient needs, family priorities, and applicable clinical standards.
• Manage and periodically review care plans, progress data, and clinical outcomes; update goals, recommendations, and treatment strategies as needed.
• Provide clear education and counseling to patients and families regarding evaluation findings, treatment options, progress, and carryover strategies.

Supervision and clinical mentorship

• Supervise SLPAs in accordance with current California licensing requirements, including required direct and indirect supervision, record review, clinical accountability, and supervision documentation.
• Serve as a clinical resource and mentor for SLPs and SLPAs in treatment planning, clinical decision-making, professional communication, and documentation practices.
• Conduct regular check-ins, provide timely coaching and feedback, and support individual clinician growth and accountability.
• Support graduate clinicians or other trainees when assigned and when all applicable state, ASHA, and educational-program supervision requirements have been met.

Documentation and quality management

• Review clinical documentation for accuracy, quality, timeliness, continuity of care, billing support, and compliance with professional and regulatory requirements.
• Complete at least one randomized monthly review of each assigned clinician's SOAP notes, document findings, and review feedback during scheduled check-ins.
• Identify repeated documentation deficiencies or significant clinical concerns and communicate matters requiring administrative follow-up to the appropriate leader.
• Support consistent application of Telespeech Therapy policies, clinical procedures, ethical standards, and evidence-based practices.

Clinic collaboration and direct care

• Provide a reliable clinical-leadership presence during scheduled hours and serve as a point of contact for clinical questions within the role's scope.
• Collaborate with patients, families, SLPs, SLPAs, teachers, school administrators, and other professionals to support coordinated care.
• Partner with clinic leadership to improve workflow, communication, patient experience, and clinical operations.
• For a full-time role, provide a mutually established amount of direct speech and language therapy in individual and/or group settings.

Required Qualifications

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
• Current, active, and unrestricted California Speech-Language Pathology license, maintained throughout employment.
• Current ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP), maintained throughout employment.
• At least two years of full-time experience, or 3,120 hours of qualifying experience, providing services as a licensed or credentialed SLP before supervising an SLPA.
• Completion and ongoing maintenance of all California supervision-training requirements before assuming responsibility for an SLPA, including the required initial and renewal-period continuing professional development.
• Strong clinical judgment and working knowledge of assessment, care planning, documentation, supervision, ethics, and evidence-based practice.
• Ability to communicate clearly, provide constructive feedback, exercise independent clinical judgment, and collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team.

Compensation and Benefits

Pay: $70.00-$85.00 per hour. Available benefits include the following; eligibility is based on employment status and applicable plan terms.

Position details

Reports to: Director of People & Communications / CEO.

Classification: Full-time or part-time; non-exempt.

Work demands: This role routinely involves sitting, standing, moving through the clinic, communicating with patients and team members, and using a computer for clinical and administrative work. It may occasionally involve lifting or moving items up to 20 pounds. These responsibilities are performed with or without reasonable accommodation.
