The teams behind Celestine and Grand Army are partnering with Ivy Mix — founder of Speed Rack, partner at Whoopsie Daisy, and formerly of Leyenda — and Chef Alan Delgado of Los Burritos Juarez to open a new upscale-casual Northern Mexican restaurant concept this summer. We are seeking talented Hosts with a minimum of 2 years NYC upscale casual dining experience to join our opening team. We hope to find candidates with the empathy, talent, passion, and the focus necessary to execute at the highest level while still offering relaxed, meticulous service in a beautiful environment.

As a host, you are our first interaction with guests; your energy will set the tone for their overall experience. As such, it’s your overarching responsibility to do all that you can to provide our guests with the best possible experience in a way that feels genuine to you. We are looking for an individual with leadership skills that is capable of managing themselves at the door. Our hosts possess high energy, are able to maximize covers using our reservations systems, and communicate their needs to FOH managers and servers.

As a host your job responsibilities will include:

• Greeting guests in a hospitable manner as they enter the front door

• Ensuring guests are properly sat at table with correct menus 

• Awareness of open and sat tables

• Alerting managers on tables that are over their time estimates and making managers aware of potential problems for late sat tables

• Creating and maintaining the waitlist and calling guests for available tables

• Maximizing covers with reservations and walk ins

• Acknowledging guests and saying good evening as they leave, inquiring about their dining experience

• Maintaining clean menus and ensuring correct menus are on the floor

Team Expectations

• Adhere to the schedule created by the GM; arrive on time and with a neat, clean appearance
• Be organized; take notes
• Be engaged in continuing staff education around food and beverages
• Be courteous, professional, and kind to guests and employees alike
• Be a proactive self-starter with a keen eye for details and ability to multitask
• Be open to feedback and notes for improvement
• Communicate responsibly and maturely; be open about any issues that may arise (internally or with guests) so that we can fix any problems that arise early on
• Be able to lift and or move 30 pounds as needed
