Field Training Officer
Scout Security · Denver Metro & Colorado Springs, CO · Full-Time, Field-Based · Immediate Opening
About Scout Security
Scout Security provides professional unarmed security services to multifamily residential communities and commercial properties across the Denver metro and Colorado Springs markets. With a growing team of mobile patrol officers, dedicated site guards, and emergency services personnel for firewatch, Scout Security is scaling rapidly and building the infrastructure to match — starting with this role.
Why This Role Exists
Training at Scout Security has historically been handled by supervisors. As the company grows our number of locations and types of service, that approach no longer scales. This is a brand-new position — the very first dedicated trainer in the company's history — and you will own it from day one. You won't just follow a manual; you will build and champion our elite field training program for new hires, architect an impactful curriculum for monthly employee development, and personally lead the charge in the field. This is your chance to set the gold standard for how Scout Security empowers its people and how we deliver a service of excellence to our clients.
What You'll Do
Field Training & Coaching
- Conduct bi-weekly New Employee Orientation (NEO) training in office for incoming security guards
- Train guards in the field at active sites across Denver metro and Colorado Springs for both mobile patrol and dedicated guarding
- Perform site-specific training when officers are newly assigned or coverage gaps arise — including same-night deployments when needed
- Lead monthly fire watch certification trainings and bi-monthly emergency training sessions
- Conduct post inspections and site audits to evaluate guard performance and compliance
- Provide hands-on coaching while training and partner with supervisor team on performance evaluations and any additional training needs in the field
- Eventually train supervisory staff and support management development
Curriculum Development
- Design and develop a standardized new hire training program (including in office and in the field portions), ongoing training curriculum for continued employee development, live presentations for office training, and scenario-based exercises for unarmed security personnel
- Create training materials covering: patrol procedures, de-escalation, emergency response, report writing, customer service, and site-specific protocols
- Maintain accurate training records, certifications, and compliance documentation
- Evaluate training effectiveness using performance metrics and operational feedback; iterate accordingly
- Ensure all programs align with Colorado state regulations, company policies, and client expectations
- Utilize GSuite, Confluence, and internal communication platforms to document and distribute training materials
Compliance & Standards
- Stay current on industry best practices, Colorado security regulations, and evolving field standards
- Promote professionalism, ethical conduct, and accountability among all security personnel
- Assist with incident review and identify training-based opportunities for operational improvement
- Support the development of a 30-60-90 day tracking system for new employee progress
Schedule & Work Environment
This is a mobile, field-based role requiring 40-50 hours per week — not a desk job. You will be in a company vehicle regularly, traveling between sites across the Denver metro and Colorado Springs. Plan for 10–12 miles of walking per night during active training shifts (up to 30,000 steps on your feet).
SCHEDULE ELEMENT
DETAILS
Primary Field Training Hours

Weekend Availability
Most weekends required — busiest nights are Fri–Sun
Note: Schedules are provided two weeks in advance and will flex based on hiring demand, and emergency services needs. The nature of overnight security means occasional short-notice deployments are part of the job.
What We're Looking For — Must-Haves
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a field trainer, instructor, supervisor, or training coordinator
- Demonstrated experience developing training curriculum, lesson plans, or instructional programs — not just delivering training someone else built

- Strong communication and presentation skills — you can hold a room, build rapport with frontline workers, and create engagement as you train in the field or office
- Relevant industry experience in security, law enforcement, military, or related field preferred
- Proficiency in GSuite and ability to learn internal platforms (Confluence, Connect Teams, Vision Insights)
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (you will use a company car at work)— you are covering two metro areas
