Department: Emergency Medicine - School of Medicine
Duties & Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care for pediatric emergency medicinepatients during overnight shifts
- Supervise and teach emergency medicine residents, pediatricresidents, and medical students
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and departmentalcommittees
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimalpatient outcomes
- Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation
- Participate in department meetings and educationalconferences
- Assist with trauma resuscitations and critical carestabilization
- Provide consultation to other departments as needed
Required Qualifications:
- MD or DO degree from accredited institution
- Board certification in Emergency Medicine or Pediatric EmergencyMedicine
- Current Virginia medical license or ability to obtain
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification
- Completion of accredited Emergency Medicine or PediatricEmergency Medicine residency
- Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment ofrespect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty,staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or acommitment to do so as an employee at VCU
Preferred Qualifications:
- Fellowship training in Pediatric Emergency Medicine
- Previous academic medical center experience
- Experience with electronic medical records
- Research experience or publications
- Teaching experience with residents and medical students
