Job Description:

Registered Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for night shifts. The role requires providing specialized care to critically ill patients including those with CHF, respiratory distress, ACS, A-fib RVR, DM, and various post-surgical conditions. Nurse will be working in a 226-bed non-profit community hospital with 11 ICU beds.

Responsibilities:

• Manage patients with chest tubes, wound vacs, and dressing changes.
• Monitor femoral arterial sheaths and administer medication drips such as diltiazem, amiodarone, Lasix, nitro, and heparin.
• Float to TELE, Telemetry 2EW, Med-Surg, and Neurology-Medical units as needed.

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience.
• Completion of at least 1 travel assignment prior.
• ACLS and BLS certifications.
• Experience with EPIC EMR system.
• Preferred experience with Art line, Impella, and/or IABP.

Unit Description
General Information
Beds: 39 - MICU, SICU, CICU, TICU - mixed unit
Minimal Experience:
2 years of ICU experience EXCLUDING travel experience is most preferred
If they have 1.5 years of ICU experience EXCLUDING travel, please have CRT send to management team for approval
Will you accept a first-time traveler? No. Minimum one prior travel assignment
Traveler must reside >100 miles outside of facility
Permanent staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
Patient Types:
Complex ICU patients ranging from surgical, medical, cardiac (preferred), neuro and trauma
Diagnoses include: ARDS, MI, CVA/TIA, COVID, s/p cardiac cath, post-surgical, multiple system trauma - heavy trauma population
Cardiac experience is preferred (not required): CABG/TAVR - 24 to 48 hrs post op experience is preferred but not required for travelers
Will not take fresh open hearts unless they are experienced, and the facility felt comfortable with this - given to permanent staff
