Gift Buyer

Watson's is looking for someone who can plan and coordinate the procurement of all gift and holiday inventory with the optimal combination of price and quality for three retail store locations. Primary responsibilities include:

Purchasing

· Provides customers with high quality gift and holiday merchandise based on analysis of customer base, historical data, industry trends and monitoring sell-through to adjust the buying strategy accordingly.

· Manages the supply chain, including assessing vendors' reliability, product quality, shipping speed, cost and terms; responsible for negotiating costs, tracking shipments, and canceling orders.

· Set product prices in accordance with targeted margins; use daily reports and POS to calibrate sales, making sure they align with targeted margins and forecasted sales.

Budget + Finance

· Works closely with Accounting and Management to create an annual budget.

· Track every order placed by breaking it into categories to ensure spending is at the budgeted total.

· Prepares monthly financial reports, monitors and responds to weekly Open to Buy, and utilizes sales, sell-through, and dusty inventory reports.

Inventory Management

· Maintain adequate inventory levels, setting up re-orders, proactively managing dusty inventory and items with low sell-through, and placing orders in anticipation of customer demand.

· Create and communicate promotions and discount of product; works with marketing to create promotional material; set up and manage sales in POS.

· Collaborate with Receiving, Accounts Payable, Merchandising, Sales, and Marketing on all aspects of received inventory. Keep teams at both locations informed of any pertinent information.

The ideal candidate has:

· 3+ years of prior buying experience. Industry experience a plus.

· Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience preferred.

· Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel, PowerPoint) and POS and inventory systems.

· Meticulous attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Able to pivot between big picture and fine details.

· Strong organizational and time management skills with a proven ability to adapt to change, simplify complexity, and meet deadlines.

· Willing to work a flexible schedule of days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

· Willing and able to travel domestically and internationally up to 30% of the year to trade shows, events, and vendors. Overnight travel required.

· A team player with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

This full-time, non-exempt position will work predominantly on-site in Puyallup, with regular on-site visits to Federal Way and Olympia Locations.

Pay: $67,500.00 - $73,500.00 per year
