Direct Support Professional

Job Description Sunrise is a private not‑for‑profit organization dedicated to serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We are looking for a Direct Support Professional to provide support, assistance and supervision to individuals to help them live valued lives in the community. Purpose To provide support, assistance and supervision to persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities to enable them to live valued lives in the community. Qualifications Must successfully complete required pre‑employment background and drug screening. Must possess a valid driver’s license meeting company standards. Must possess basic computer skills. High school diploma or equivalent (required by work location). Minimum one year of experience in the human service field (required by work location). Essential Functions Identify and report any suspected abuse or violations of an individual’s rights. Provide support, assistance and supervision to meet the needs and goals of the individuals according to their plans. Ensure that each individual’s training, behavior and support programs are implemented and documented in accordance with regulatory requirements. Ensure that the health, safety and well‑being of the individuals are protected at all times. Provide a positive, reinforcing environment that promotes independence and choice. Follow positioning schedules, use proper equipment and assistive devices per plan. Provide necessary level of assistance for appropriate diet, texture and equipment. Ensure all homes, outside areas and vehicles are well maintained and organized. Perform all other duties as assigned.
