Must-Have:

• Satisfactory completion of a training program in a Radiation Therapy Technology program in an AMA approved school, meeting the requirements for registry by the ARRT.
• Ability to operate high voltage machinery safely and accurately.
• Knowledge of NYSDOH, ARRT, and ACRO radiation safety protocols.

Description:

The Radiation Therapist will administer ionizing radiation and radioactive substances to patients under the supervision of a radiation oncologist. All procedures must be in accordance with Client Code part 16 guidelines. The Radiation Therapist must operate high voltage machinery safely and accurately. Communication with relevant personnel regarding malfunctions is required. Maintaining patient welfare is paramount, and the Radiation Therapist must conduct themselves in a responsible and professional manner. The Radiation Therapist provides radiation therapy to patients as prescribed by a radiation oncologist according to established practices and standards. Patient treatment parameters must be accurately entered and maintained in the electronic medical record. The Radiation Therapist is responsible for accurately interpreting computerized treatment plans. Daily observations of patients for reactions are essential, with immediate reporting of any adverse reactions to the radiation oncology nurse or radiation oncologist. Facilitating complex problem-solving regarding technical issues is a key responsibility. Professional conduct that supports the well-being of the radiation oncology patient is essential.
