Summary An Elementary Teacher assists students in developing expected competencies while acquiring the knowledge and skills needed for success. An Elementary Teacher is knowledgeable, adaptable, successful with time management, uses leadership skills, and has a strong work ethic to meet the needs of students in their care. The Elementary Teacher uses problem‑solving skills and various teaching methods to assist students in the classroom. Physical Qualifications Must be able to bend and squat to access books on the bottom shelf. Must be able to reach above the head and grasp and lift objects in this position, weighing 5 pounds. Qualifications and Responsibilities Meets licensure requirements for the position applied to. Meets the Right to Read Law expectations for implementation of the Science of Reading. Plan, Prepare, and Deliver Instructional Activities That Facilitate Active Learning Experiences Develop Pacing Guides, Assessments, Units of Instruction, Lesson Plans, and more to address the implementation of the Arkansas State Standards and High Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM) purchased by the district. Establish And Communicate Clear Objectives For All Learning Activities Prepare the classroom for class activities in advance to the lesson Provide A Variety Of Learning Materials And Resources For Use In Educational Activities Identify And Select Different Instructional Resources And Methods To Meet Students' Varying Needs Instruct And Monitor Students In The Use Of Learning Materials And Equipment Use Relevant Technology To Support Instruction Observe and evaluate students' performance and development Assign And Grade Class Work, Homework, Tests And Assignments Provide Appropriate Feedback To Students On Their Assignments Monitor The Progress Of Individual Students Maintain Accurate And Complete Records Of Students' Progress And Development Prepare Required Reports On Students And Activities Manage Student Behavior In The Classroom By Establishing And Enforcing Rules And Procedures Maintain Discipline In Accordance With The Rules And Disciplinary Systems Of The School Apply Appropriate Disciplinary Measures Where Necessary Participates In Faculty Committees And The Sponsorship Of Student Activities As Directed Communicate Necessary Information Regularly To Students, Colleagues And Parents Regarding Student Progress And Student Needs Remain Up to Date with the Arkansas State Standards, Rules, and Expectations in addition to Developments In Subject Area, Teaching Resources And Methods And Make Relevant Changes To Instructional Plans And Activities according to State and District expectations Monitor Students In Between Instructional Periods Participates In Curriculum Development Programs As Mandated By State And District Policies Administers Group Standardized Tests In Accordance With State Testing Program Follow District And Building Policies And Procedures Maintain Personal Professional Records As Needed For Observations And Licensure Performs Other Duties As Assigned By The Superintendent Or Designee The above list is not exhaustive, as this position is a reflection of the office of the superintendent and district.
