Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric Stepdown position requiring tracheostomy/ventilator management skills and 2 years of pediatric rehab or acute care experience.
Details
- Pediatric Stepdown unit with a mixed rehab/acute care patient population (not PCU)
- Patient population includes pediatric and adolescent patients
- Diagnoses include TBI, spinal cord injury, GSW, MVA, burns, feeding disorders, failure to thrive, spina bifida, CP, and post-ortho surgical patients requiring extensive ST/PT/OT
- Patient ratio of 1:4
- 3x12 rotating day/night shifts (07:00-19:30 / 19:00-07:30)
- Every other weekend required
- Holiday coverage required as scheduled
- Floating required within specialty and other departments, including occasional floating to the Largo campus
- No on-call requirements
- Scrubs of any color or pattern permitted
Requirements
- Active RN license (MD state or Compact) required
- BLS certification required (CPI preferred)
- Minimum 2 years of pediatric rehab or pediatric acute care experience with required skills (hard requirement)
- Tracheostomy and ventilator management experience required
- Experience with respiratory or cardiac patients requiring trach/vent care
- Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, starting and maintaining IVs
- Experience with pediatric feedings (bottle, breast, gavage) and NG tube insertion/management
- Experience with infection prevention, isolation precautions/PPE, and wound assessment/care preferred
- Experience with oral/nasal suctioning and oxygen delivery systems
- Meditech charting experience preferred
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
Additional Information
- Provide direct nursing care to pediatric and adolescent patients in a stepdown setting with rehab and acute care needs
- Manage patients requiring tracheostomy and ventilator support alongside other specialized pediatric conditions
- Travelers are expected to float within scope with no restrictions, with travelers floating first
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
