We can’t wait to meet you! Summary The Lactation Consultant provides clinical assessment, care, education, and support to breastfeeding mothers in both inpatient and outpatient settings. This role collaborates closely with nursing and medical staff to ensure optimal care for both the breastfeeding mother and infant. Responsibilities Breastfeeding Assessment & Support Evaluate breastfeeding effectiveness and provide appropriate interventions and education to prevent or address feeding challenges. Support for Non-Breastfeeding Infants Assist mothers of infants unable to breastfeed in establishing and maintaining milk supply, including proper storage and handling of expressed milk. Collaborative Care Work with primary care providers and healthcare teams to implement feeding interventions tailored to the medical needs of the infant and/or mother. Education & Training Deliver breastfeeding education to patients, hospital staff, and community partners. Participate in ongoing training and outreach efforts. Post-Discharge Support Offer continued breastfeeding support after discharge through phone consultations, in-person follow-ups, and coordination with outpatient care providers. Qualifications Education Associate’s degree required Licensure/Certification Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) through the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at time of hire Experience Minimum of six (6) months of experience in breastfeeding and lactation support Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong clinical assessment skills Excellent communication and teaching abilities Ability to work collaboratively across disciplines Commitment to culturally sensitive, inclusive care EEO Statement Qualified applicants will be considered without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, genetic information, disability, status as a protected veteran or political affiliation.
