Required Application Materials Resume Cover Letter List of three references Position Summary Provides international students with academic, personal, social, and career information to assist them in adjusting to and participating in campus and community life. Statement Of Duties And Responsibilities International Student Immigration Compliance & SEVIS Management (30%) Serve as the Designated School Official (DSO) and Alternative Responsible Officer (ARO), with primary responsibility for SEVIS registration, updates, maintenance, and government reporting requirements. Interpret and apply complex federal regulations governing F-1 and J-1 students and scholars, including visa requirements, employment eligibility and authorization, maintenance of status, and other immigration compliance matters. Advise international students on F-1, J-1, and other nonimmigrant visa categories, providing individualized guidance on federal immigration regulations and agency requirements. Process and advise on immigration-related applications and requests, including new F-1 visas, work authorization, CPT/OPT, reinstatement, reduced course load, change of status, extensions of stay, medical leave, and economic hardship employment authorization. Monitor and track student immigration status and maintain accurate and timely records in SEVIS, Sunapsis, and institutional files. Ensure international students understand and comply with federal, state, and university immigration requirements and maintain appropriate immigration documentation. Maintain current knowledge of federal regulations and agency guidance through professional development, training, and engagement with relevant professional organizations. International Student Advising, Case Management & Student Success (25%) Provide comprehensive advising and active case management to an assigned caseload of international students throughout their academic experience. Explain complex university and federal regulations in an accessible manner to students from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds, including students with limited English proficiency. Support international students experiencing cross-cultural, family, personal, academic, or economic challenges that may affect their academic progress and overall student experience. Provide appropriate referrals to campus and community resources and collaborate with faculty and staff to address student needs. Apply counseling, problem-solving, mediation, and conflict-resolution skills when addressing sensitive student concerns, maintaining appropriate confidentiality and professionalism. Develop and implement programs, services, and retention strategies that support the unique needs of international students and promote persistence from orientation through graduation. Provide student-facing workshops, information sessions, orientations, and presentations addressing immigration, employment, academic planning, cultural adjustment, and other areas relevant to international student success. International Programs, J-1 & Campus Engagement (20%) Support J-1 exchange students and scholars through J-1 processing, advising, classroom presentations, informational sessions, and ongoing program support. Support Study Abroad programming, events, presentations, and student information sessions in collaboration with the Office of International Programs and Study Abroad. Coordinate and support programs and events for international students, including new student orientation, tax workshops, OPT/CPT workshops, cultural and heritage events, summer and holiday programming, and other co-curricular activities. Serve as a point of contact for scholarship programs, cultural and heritage initiatives, and other campus-wide programs supporting international students. Participate in campus committees, campus-wide events, and student engagement initiatives that support the mission of the Office of International Programs and Study Abroad. Assist with international delegations, visiting school groups, counselors, and other international guests and dignitaries. Support the English Language Institute and other university initiatives serving international students and scholars. Serve as a Passport Agent and support passport-related events and activities. International Recruitment, Enrollment & External Partnerships (15%) Collaborate with faculty, staff, and university leadership to support international student recruitment, enrollment, and retention strategies, including targeted recruitment efforts in Mexico and other priority markets. Develop and maintain effective relationships with prospective students, applicants, families, recruitment and admissions professionals, guidance counselors, teachers, school officials, university faculty and staff, and international institutions. Develop relationships with U.S. Embassy and EducationUSA representatives, international business and government-related agencies, current and potential employers, exchange partners, and other external stakeholders. Support comprehensive enrollment strategies designed to increase international enrollment, broaden access, and strengthen student retention. Assist with the development and execution of programs and initiatives that enhance high-impact and engaged learning experiences for international students. Support the university's efforts to foster student success from initial enrollment through graduation and employment locally, nationally, and globally. Assist with the development and execution of international alumni networks and initiatives supporting alumni engagement and philanthropic opportunities. Recruit, train, and counsel student and graduate workers supporting international programs and student services. Data, Communications & Administrative Operations (10%) Compile, maintain, and analyze international student and faculty data to support reporting, assessment, enrollment planning, and decision-making for the Office of International Programs and Study Abroad. Maintain accurate and timely records across SEVIS, Sunapsis, CRM/institutional systems, and other university databases, ensuring data integrity and quality control. Develop and implement training materials, workshops, information sessions, and resources for international students, scholars, faculty, and staff. Collaborate with the marketing team on creative design, messaging, and development of OIPSA-related marketing collateral and materials. Maintain proficiency in Microsoft Office and institutional software systems and learn new technologies as needed. Demonstrate strong written, verbal, presentation, editing, and attention-to-detail skills in communicating with students, university stakeholders, and external partners. Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned by OIPSA leadership.
