Goodale Enterprises is looking for an Operations Manager for a longstanding, family-owned oil company located in Grand Rapids, MI. Oil industry experience is not needed for this role.

Summary: The Operations Manager is responsible for leading and supporting day-to-day business operations of Goodale Enterprises, with a focus on operational efficiency, safety, compliance, employee engagement, and continuous improvement. This role partners with senior leadership to implement business strategies, monitor performance, oversee key administrative and human resources functions, and ensure the organization meets its short- and long-term goals. The ideal candidate is a proactive, solutions-oriented leader with strong business judgment, integrity, and the ability to build effective processes and high-performing teams.

 

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

• Promote and reinforce the company’s culture, mission, vision, and core values
• Champion safety awareness, accident prevention, and employee engagement in maintaining a safe work environment; ensure employees understand and follow safety expectations
• Analyze internal operations to identify opportunities for process improvement, increased efficiency, and enhanced performance
• Implement business strategies and operational plans that align with short- and long-term objectives developed in collaboration with the General Manager
• Monitor performance using tracking tools and key metrics; take corrective action as needed and prepare detailed updates, reports, and forecasts
• Oversee Human Resources functions of the business
• Support daily operations, to ensure trucking company is responsive and follows through on commitments
• Manage projects and track schedules of service, equipment and general maintenance planning
• Ensure compliance with applicable national, state, and local business regulations, and take appropriate corrective action when necessary
• Other tasks and duties as required

 

Required skills and qualifications

• Minimum of 8 years of business experience, including progressively increasing leadership responsibilities
• Self-motivated and able to develop, execute, and follow through on business plans
• Strong leadership skills, sound judgment, personal integrity, and the ability to make decisions with confidence
• Knowledge of advanced business planning, operational strategy, and applicable regulatory requirements
• Strong understanding of data analysis, performance metrics, and reporting tools
• Ability to quickly diagnose operational issues, identify root causes, and anticipate potential challenges

Physical demands and working conditions:

• Prolonged periods of sitting, computer work and occasional walking
• Communicate effectively and frequently with staff members, must be able to understand direction
• Work is mainly performed in an office environment however occasionally requires local travel
