Job Highlights Part‑time night‑shift position working two 12‑hour shifts per week with a weekend and holiday rotation. Shift is from 7:00 pm to 7:00 am. MUST have at least one of the following to qualify: Missouri CNA License Prior experience as a Nurse Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Surgical Technician, Patient Care Technician (PCT) or Behavioral Health Technician Enrolled in a Nursing program and completed the Fundamentals of Nursing program Job Summary Under supervision and in collaboration with other health‑care professionals, assist in performing a variety of nursing care services for patients. Primary Responsibilities Receive patient care assignments from the registered nurse in charge and initiate delegated tasks based on demonstrated competence. Collect and document data for admission assessment, reassessment and/or scheduling appointments or surgeries. Inform licensed nurse of any changes in patient condition, complaints or educational needs. Stock and maintain supplies and equipment to meet patient care needs and cost containment. Assist with clerical duties such as answering telephones, relaying messages, transcribing physician orders and organizing the patient’s medical record. In an inpatient environment: answer patients’ calls for help, take vital signs, monitor behavior and physical condition, assist with baths, ambulation, feeding, skin care, personal and oral hygiene, and managing beds. Perform dressing changes, enemas, ostomy care, toileting, turning, cough and deep breathing, catheter care, collection of biological specimens, and record intake and output of fluids. Prepare patients for discharge and accompany them upon dismissal as indicated. Orient new patients and significant others to the nursing unit. Manage referrals for medical and surgical specialist appointments in an outpatient environment, providing assistance in patient care to patients three years of age or older. Maintain constant state of alertness and safety. May perform point‑of‑care testing according to policies and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned. Education Completion of a state‑approved unlicensed assist personnel program (UAP) or meet the exempted UAP guidelines with documented proof, or enrollment in UAP through SSM Health upon hire, or if hired in Oklahoma/Wisconsin, completion of the Clinical Partner I orientation checklist during a 90‑day orientation/probationary period. Experience No experience required. Physical Requirements Constant standing and walking. Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information verbally. Ability to distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms and machinery. Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling of objects weighing 0–25 lb. Frequent reaching, gripping, keyboard use and data entry. Frequent use of vision for distances near (≤20 in) and far (≥20 ft) and for color identification. Occasional bending, stooping, crawling, kneeling, sitting, squatting and repetitive leg and arm movements. Occasional visual judgment of distances and spatial relationships. Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling of objects weighing 25–50 lb. Occasional lifting/moving of patients. Occasional use of smell to detect odors. Occasional driving.
