Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a NICU/L&D position requiring RRT certification and 2+ years of NICU experience at a children's hospital.

Details

• Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:30)
• Primarily assigned to L&D, with home unit of NICU, PICU, or Peds assigned upon arrival based on facility need
• Home unit may change based on facility needs
• Floating required to PICU and some Peds Acute Care units, as well as within hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals
• Every other weekend work required
• Straight weekend block scheduling, with other block options available except Tuesday-Thursday
• Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's pairs)
• Cerner charting system used

Requirements

• RRT certification through NBRC required
• ACLS and BLS certification required
• NRP certification required (can be obtained once offered if placed in L&D)
• PALS certification preferred
• Indiana state license or compact license required in hand prior to start date (license required if applicable)
• Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required
• L&D experience required
• Children's hospital experience within the last 3-5 years required
• Candidates with Level I Trauma adult facility experience may also be considered
• Education must be accredited by CoARC and regionally accredited by CHEA
• 2 supervisor references required
• SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide respiratory care services including medication delivery, ventilator management, and airway management for neonatal and pediatric patients
• Perform neonatal/pediatric procedures including CPAP/BiPAP, extubation, nasal/oral airway placement and suctioning, and tracheostomy care
• Administer various respiratory medications including bronchodilators, inhaled steroids, and other specialized treatments
• Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs)
• Work as part of a NICU/L&D care team
• First-time travelers accepted
• Indiana residents are considered local candidates
• Up to 5 days of non-holiday RTO can be auto-approved; additional time off requires facility approval
• Candidates must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Former IU Health perm or PRN employees must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler
• Current or past IU Health travelers with 12+ months of travel employment must complete a break period to reset eligibility (3 months for out-of-state residents, 6 months for in-state residents)
