Patient Care Technician- Emergency Department

Department: 36102 Alleghany Health - Emergency Department Status: Full time Benefits Eligible: Yes Hours Per Week: 36 Schedule Details/Additional Information: Days 7a-7p rotating schedule; every other weekend Pay Range: $15.75 - $23.65 EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or GED equivalent with one year experience as a Nurse Aide II and/or previous experience as an Emergency Medical Technician, ECG Technician and/or Phlebotomist. LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION: Nurse Aide II, Emergency Medical Technician, ECG Technician or Phlebotomist. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Participates in the implementation of the nursing process by giving direct care to patients under the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN). 2. Creates and maintains a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, self, co-workers, and facility. 3. Ensures complete, accurate, and timely communication of patient information. 4. Performs special procedures correctly under direction of Registered Nurse (RN). 5. Communicates to the team, co-workers, patients, and family members in an effective, positive, and professional manner. 6. Takes personal responsibility and initiative for performance and for professional growth and development. 7. May perform electrocardiograms on order of physician, at the direction of the RN or per protocol. 8. May performs phlebotomy on order of the physician or at the direction of the RN. 9. Collects samples for forensic testing (blood and/or urine) at the direction of RN. 10. Provides age/developmental appropriate patient care in accordance with Age/Developmental Specific Care Guidelines for the specific age groups served. 11. Performs other duties as directed by leadership.
