The Sherwood Media team is focused on delivering timely, relevant financial news and insights to Robinhood traders and readers. We’re looking for an experienced financial news junkie who is driven by the opportunity to inform readers and Robinhood traders. You are adept at monitoring multiple sources in real-time to identify impactful events, releases, developments, and statements while screening out the noise. You can succinctly and accurately explain what’s moving a stock, significant events in the economy, and material developments in the business world. While you may know a lot about a few companies or sectors, you are able to quickly learn and dive into new coverage areas as retail traders or news cycles shift focus! As an individual contributor on the Sherwood Media team, you will be responsible for covering the daily financial news cycle and delivering both short-form and long-form content. The ideal candidate will have a knack for writing punchy headlines that explain in less characters than a tweet the what, why, and how of market-moving news for traders, but also the ability to do deep dives and data-driven analysis on equities, sectors, and macro trends. You thrive in a fast-paced environment, are incredibly detail-oriented, experienced working with analytics and content management tools, and understand how to delegate and communicate with a distributed editorial team in periods of market volatility. The role is located in the office location(s) listed on this job description which will align with our in-office working environment. WHAT YOU’LL DO

* As part of the Sherwood Media team, you’ll be on the pulse of the daily financial news cycle and be expected to report about earnings and news that is moving individual equities, sectors, or the broader market, both in short-form, quick turnaround posts as well as longer, deeper reported pieces * Constantly monitor various sources of breaking news and stock market data to discover market news, write headlines for banners, and decide what level of reporting is needed * You'll work closely with editors and reporters to plan, pitch, develop, and fact-check stories, including keeping an active knowledge of the top companies of interest to Robinhood traders and ensuring coverage of key moments that will likely affect their stock, such as Apple’s WWDC, investor days, earnings, etc. * We’ll lean on you to help share and execute experiments and initiatives, finding new, strategic ways to reach our audience within the Robinhood app * You'll help ensure our news products span a balance of perspectives and topics, and uphold Sherwood’s editorial and ethics standards

WHAT YOU BRING

* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or equivalent work experience in a newsroom setting * Previous experience covering markets news, working in, and reacting to breaking-news situations * A deep familiarity with different content management systems, data analytics tools, and the ability to program within multiple touch points with precision * A love for financial and business news, and comprehensive grasp of other key editorial players in the landscape, with an eagerness to make people’s financial lives better through news that delivers key insights and education * Quick, clear, and engaging communication skills, with the ability to break down financial concepts and make them easy to understand and digestible for a broad audience * You have an ownership mentality, are constantly looking for the next story, and are driven to hone your craft and find better ways to serve our audience * You prioritize quality and pay strong attention to detail, factual precision, and nuance * Flexibility and willingness to collaborate cross-functionally, experiment, and develop new tools

Base pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. The expected base pay range for this role is based on the location where the work will be performed and is aligned to one of 3 compensation zones.
