Job Description An Engineering Manager will help drive innovation, mentor top talent, and shape the future of our platform with cutting‑edge technology. The Sports Platform department is responsible for developing, enhancing and supporting our sports platform – an n‑tier system focused on low latency while supporting high throughput. You and your team will create amazing experiences for traders who manage all betting opportunities on our site. You will be responsible for building and managing a team of T‑shaped full‑stack engineers, measuring quality and delivery, contributing improvements, and ensuring the team remains skilled, engaged, and empowered while our processes and technology are efficient and fit for purpose. The team will build new services in Golang and Google Spanner datastore, support microservices written in C# utilizing SQL, and migrate from on‑premise to GCP‑hosted infrastructure. We use Kafka to consume data from external providers, and the front‑end of the trader apps will migrate from WPF to React. Testing and observability will be top of mind. This role is eligible for inclusion in the company’s hybrid working from home policy. The salary for this role ranges from $110,000 to $160,000 annually. Qualifications Commercial experience with leading development teams in the delivery of high quality software applications in client or service side application development. Passionate about working with technology and software development processes and practices. Experience with C#, Golang, Typescript, or other server side technologies. Adaptability, with the ability to lead a team to ensure the best outcome for the business. Experience with mobile technologies. Experience with performance testing. Knowledge of service‑oriented architecture. Exposure to multiple software development methodologies. Experience with or exposure to cloud technologies such as GCP, GKE or SAAS. Exposure to generative artificial intelligence and large language models. Additional Information Assisting in driving the provision of a capable, reactive, and motivated, delivery‑focused team. Enforcing governance of quality, rules, standards and processes to ensure solutions meet business requirements. Ensuring the development process is conducted in a timely fashion. Planning and tracking work actively, as prioritised by the product, project and development management. Gaining a good understanding of the technical structure, domain and architecture of the systems that the team is responsible for. Identifying and mitigating risk. Removing blockers to delivery. Working through dependencies. Mentoring members of the team and ensuring distribution of knowledge. Inputting developer appraisals and other performance feedback.
