Lawn Maintenance Worker - Summer 2026

Position Details

Department: Buildings & Grounds

Reports To: Chad Affield


Employment Type: Seasonal / Temporary

Work Schedule: Monday Friday, summer months (hours TBD)

Compensation: TBD

Position Summary

Breckenridge Public Schools is seeking a reliable and hardworking individual to assist with lawn mowing and general grounds maintenance during the summer months. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors and takes pride in keeping school grounds safe, neat, and well-maintained for students, staff, and the community.

Primary Responsibilities

• Mow and trim grass on school district grounds using riding and/or push mowers
• Edge sidewalks, curbs, and landscape borders
• Blow off hard surfaces (sidewalks, parking lots, building entryways) after mowing
• Pick up debris from grounds prior to mowing
• Notify supervisor of any equipment issues or maintenance needs
• Follow all safety procedures when operating power equipment
• Assist with other basic grounds maintenance tasks as assigned

Qualifications

• Ability to operate lawn mowers and small power equipment (experience preferred)
• Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated with the ability to work independently
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Valid driver's license preferred
• Previous lawn care or grounds maintenance experience a plus - not required
• Must be able to pass a background check

Physical Requirements

• Ability to walk, stand, bend, and perform physical labor for extended periods
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Ability to work in heat and direct sunlight
