Description of Work Reporting to the Correctional Lieutenant II, this position will provide supervision of subordinate staff. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Conducting shift line‑up, making shift assignments, and inspecting all personnel to determine if they are physically and mentally capable of assuming an assigned post. Completing, reviewing, and maintaining time reports, duty rosters, leave schedules, performance evaluations, and administrative forms. Accounting for persons, funds, and ensuring that all assigned equipment is operationally ready. Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences Salary Range: $39,244 - $68,679 This job posting will close at 11:59 pm, the night before the end date listed above. Knowledge of Prisons’ policy and procedures. Necessary Special Qualifications MUST be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission. About the Division of Institutions The Division of Institutions manages the daily operations of all state‑operated prison facilities across North Carolina. Facilities are categorized by custody levels (minimum, medium, close) and house individuals serving sentences for felony convictions. The division provides safety, security, and rehabilitative services through trained custody staff, program facilitators, and administrative personnel. About Harnett Correctional Institution Harnett Correctional Institution is located in Lillington, North Carolina and houses up to 988 male offenders in a medium custody facility.
