SUMMARY  

The position of Senior Loan Closer is responsible for independently funding US Government Guaranteed Lending (GGL) 7a and Express loans, while maintaining professional and positive costumer relationships at all times. Managing an active pipeline of 8-10 GGL loans, consisting of assembling documentation, document preparation, verifying and ensuring documentation and signatures and other relevant data is GGL compliant. As a Senior Loan Closer, the ability to manage the complete life cycle of a loan portfolio with limited oversight is expected. This position’s incumbent must possess superior skills and knowledge of GGL Loan Closing that would result in a reliable ability to think and act laterally within given authority. This position reports directly to the GGL Closing Manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Knowledge of closing transactions pertaining to: business acquisitions, stock purchases, real estate purchases, expansions/renovations, and debt refinances.
• Responsible for the creation and weekly distribution of the needs letter by understanding the loan structure and conditions based on the approved credit memorandum.
• Works closely with the borrower, attorney, and any other third parties associated with the loan to ensure necessary documents and any due diligence items are produced in a timely fashion.
• Coordinates welcome calls, conferences, and weekly updates for Borrowers, Bank personnel, Attorneys, and any other parties deemed necessary regarding loans in process.
• Answers questions to ensure the borrower has a clear understanding of the GGL loan process, with attention to customer service and closing details.
• Orders and reviews necessary documentation including attorney prepared documents and construction loan documents. Makes independent decisions concerning the validation of the documentation and determines the process to ensure underwriting and closing transpires according to current U.S. Government Guaranteed Lending Standard Operating procedures.
• Applies expertise and independent judgment to validate and, if necessary, modify the loan structure with the lending team.
• Strong knowledge of GGL Capital Access Financial Systems (CAFS)/E-TRAN.
• Maintain a professional and technical knowledge by studying all relevant GGL SOP’s, USDA regulations, attending seminars and educational workshops..
• Ensures the loan closing date is met or based upon specific judgment, reschedules, and negotiates extensions of contracts, if documents necessary for closing are not available or complete.
• Assumes responsibility for updating data within Salesforce software related to their active pipeline on a weekly basis in order for GGL Closing Manager to track production and workflow.
• Works independently with title companies to request title insurance by obtaining the necessary title commitments, and endorsements, while having the ability to verify the information for proper vesting, legal descriptions, and any title exceptions.
• Works independently with escrow companies to facilitate loan funding by coordinating the balancing of settlement statements.
• Direct loan disbursements that are compliant with the GGL Terms and Conditions.
• Completes annual compliance courses.
• Adheres specifically to all corporate policies and procedures. Also adheres to Federal and State regulations and laws; including, the Bank Secrecy Act and the Anti-Money Laundering Act.
• Adheres to our Service Excellence standards and promotes their implementation with peers and associates they support.
• Performs other duties as required.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge & Experience :  These specifications are general guidelines based on the minimum experience normally considered essential to the satisfactory performance of this position.  Individual abilities may result in some deviation from these guidelines.

• Associate’s degree or higher; or work related experience should consist of duties in a business environment. Educational experience, through in-house training sessions, formal school or financial industry related curriculum, should be business or financial industry related.
• Minimum experience: 5+ years of GGL Experience
• Educational experience, through in-house training sessions, formal school or financial industry related curriculum, should be business or financial industry related and include a general knowledge of business financial statements and basic accounting principles.
• Intermediate knowledge of Bank operations, bank loan terminology and processing, related state and federal laws and regulations, and other Bank operational policies and procedures. 3-5 years in-bank experience in loan or credit operations preferable with hands on experience in GGL loan administration.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills - ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Intermediate skills in computer terminal and personal computer operation; mainframe computer system; word processing, Excel spreadsheet and specialty software programs.
• Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and instruct personnel.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

  Physical Demands/Work Environment:  Vision, hearing, speech, dexterity, visual concentration.  A valid driver’s license is required.  Must have the ability to stand, walk, sit and use hands and fingers.  Must have the ability to work the hours and days required to complete the essential functions of the position, as scheduled.  The environment is a professional office with standard office equipment.
