Position: Lead Paramedic
Location: Joint Base San Antonio, Camp Bullis
Overview:
The Lead Paramedic is an allied health professional whose primary focus is to provide emergency medical care. Paramedics will use basic life support skills to identify, care, communicate, and document injuries, method of treatment, rehabilitation, and medical releases. This individual possesses the complex knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care and ensure proper coordination of EMS transportation (if required). Paramedics function as part of a comprehensive EMS response, under medical oversight. Paramedics perform interventions with the basic and advanced equipment typically found on an ambulance. They are a link from the scene into the health care system. The Lead Paramedic shall perform specific duties consistent with skills and licensure to include, but are not limited to:

1. Develop work schedules for all assigned paramedics to ensure uninterrupted medical coverage during training operations.
2. Disseminate clinical directives from privileged providers to contract paramedics to maintain standardized patient care protocols during field events. Establish medical coverage schedules for paramedics to support designated training and high-risk events. Audit paramedic patient encounter records to verify compliance with Government documentation standards.
3. Direct administrative actions for contracted paramedics to resolve coverage, scheduling, and training requirements. Report administrative updates to the government supervisor and COR to maintain operational awareness.
4. Keep accurate records of all injuries, method of treatment, rehabilitation, and medical releases. During normal operations, provide relevant information to SW medical staff to support the students' medical needs.
5. Keep the respective HPSG, SWTS, Operations Manager and SWOMS leadership informed of medical preceptor daily, and more frequently as situations dictate, of all students cared by the Athletic Trainer staff.
6. Provide a weekly summary report (non-PII) to the respective HPSG, SWTS, Operations Manager, and/or SWOMS leadership on all treatments and activities conducted by the paramedic staff, including all coordination, planning and activities with non-HPSG personnel. Alternatively, this information may be entered directly into the Human Performance Utilization Tracker (HPUT) or similar database.
7. Work a non-standard schedule, extended hours, and/or rotating shifts which may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and/or holidays, The Contractor shall be flexible and may need to deviate from the typical work week schedule.
8. The work requires some physical exertion, such as walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces as well as time spent outdoors in extreme temperatures and variable weather conditions. Work can require prolonged standing indoors or outdoors, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 lbs. HCW is required to maintain strength, coordination, and stamina to manage and operate exercise and medical equipment. The HCW's physical conditioning must be sufficient to demonstrate and perform various exercise procedures and the ability to perform under stress, including lifting heavy weights potentially up to 100 lbs., squatting, sitting, running, jumping, bending, walking, crawling (low/high profile) for up to 25 meters, and prolonged standing. The position requires ability to move over, around, and through obstacles to a height of 10 feet, and up to 1.5 mile over rough terrain in extreme temperatures.
9. Visits or extended duties in these locations or sites are necessary to observe performance/events, to survey, to conduct planning, etcetera to ensure mission accomplishment. Demonstrate the physical agility and strength necessary to execute medical coverage during field operations.
10. Work may require travel away from the normal duty station in order to support training requirements.
11. Diligently and accurately captures and enters all required data into Government-approved systems (e.g., MHS Genesis, HPUT) in support of clinical care, operational reporting, and Government-led research initiatives.

Qualifications:
- Degree/Education: Possess a High School Diploma, or equivalent.
- Certifications in addition to BLS:
- Current National EMT-P Certification (National Registry) or state license at the EMT-Paramedic level, or higher.
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support training.
- Training: Familiar and able to access medical data systems (MHS Genesis, ASIMS, AIMWTS, PEPP, & HAIMS). Experience with Medical Records review to include military diving and quality control (DD2807, DD2808, and DD2766C, Dental, PHA, and Pressure Test Verification).
- Qualifications: Designated Dive Medical Technician & inside tender, graduate of one of the following DoD formal courses: USMC Amphibious Reconnaissance Corpsman, US Army Dive Medical Technician course, or US navy Diving Medical Technician course currently CPR certification, EMT-P, or formally trained U.S. Military medic.
- Physical Requirements: Swimmer, successfully pass all standards on the Navy Physical Readiness Test current revision & conduct medical recompression chamber duties.
- Experience: Three (3) years of experience as Paramedic within the five (5) years.
- Board Certification: Successful completion of a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program (CAAHEP-accredited Paramedic program) (or a program that has been issued a CoAEMSP "Letter of Review") within the past two (2) years.
- Licensure/Registration: All Paramedics who started their Paramedic education program after August 1, 2016 are required to successfully complete a psychomotor competency portfolio.
