Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Oncology Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 9.5 Hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years required License: Current nursing license required Certifications: - BLS - Chemo (ONS/ONCC) - OCN preferred - ONS Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy Certificate Must-Have: - Previous charge experience - Experience with patient ratios of 1:6 Description: We are seeking a registered nurse specializing in oncology to join our team. The nurse will work in an oncology and infusion unit with a daily average census of 32 patients. The unit primarily serves adults and geriatric patients. Patient diagnoses include hematology, oncology, asthma/allergy, gastrointestinal, rheumatology, and multiple sclerosis. The nurse will be responsible for port accessing and IV placement. The nurse will utilize Omnicell for medication management and Cerner and IntelliDose for documentation. Special skills required include accessing and managing ports, chemotherapy administration, and patient care coordination. Nurses will provide education and support to patients and families. Knowledge of managing side effects, recognizing abnormal lab values, and performing phlebotomy is essential. The role may involve administration of blood products, chemotherapy, and other medications. Nurses will collaborate with interdisciplinary support teams for comprehensive patient care. Effective communication skills are necessary for this role. Candidates must be able to adapt to changing patient conditions and provide critical care as needed. All candidates must have the required certifications and experience as outlined above.
