Electrical Engineer 1

Job Title Electrical Engineer 1 Location California - Statewide Job Description CDM Smith is looking for an Electrical Engineer 1 to join one of our California-based offices. Under direct supervision, the role includes the following responsibilities: Creates basic designs of electric master system plans, power system, protection and generation models, facility power systems, sustainability/renewable energy systems, and other related electrical systems. Performs studies of power systems and electrical calculations, including lighting simulations and layouts, communications, fire alarm, security and other similar calculations. Assists with the selection and specification of electrical components such as motor control centers, switchgears, transformers, etc. Reviews draft designs for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Ensures that firm policies and practices are followed on all designs. Conducts site reviews and studies to ensure designs are aligned with location specifications. Updates design requirements as necessary. Contributes to the firm’s TKM by developing white papers and technical design documentation for new or special case designs and studies. Submits technical papers and designs for publication to technical journals. Performs other duties as required and may collaborate to create presentation materials for conferences. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronic Engineering, Electrical Technology, or a related discipline. 0 years of direct experience (equivalent experience may be considered). Domestic and/or international travel may be required; frequency of travel is contingent on duties and project demands. Travel requirements: 5%. Skills and Abilities Basic knowledge of computer-assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices. Basic knowledge of engineering principles of design.
