Job Title: Industrial Maintenance Technician (Multi-Craft) – Night Shift | $27-$34/hr | Wooster, OH

Job Description

This multi-craft Industrial Maintenance Technician role focuses on troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electrical and mechanical systems in a busy industrial manufacturing facility on a 7pm–7am night shift (3-3-4-4 rotation). The position is approximately 75% electrical and 25% mechanical, working with 480v systems, PLCs, and a wide range of production equipment to keep operations running safely, efficiently, and reliably.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, combustion, and electronic systems throughout the industrial facility.
• Perform electrical maintenance on 480v systems, including diagnosing issues, replacing fuses, switches, solenoids, sensors, relays, and gates, and ensuring safe operation of equipment.
• Follow the preventive maintenance schedule to minimize equipment breakdowns, prioritize repairs, and coordinate activities with plant leadership.
• Conduct preventive maintenance on conveyors, mixers, fabrication equipment, and auxiliary machinery to maximize uptime and equipment reliability.
• Inspect and maintain air compressors, cooling water systems, and extrusion press operations on a daily basis to ensure proper performance.
• Assist with the installation, modification, and upgrade of equipment to improve safety, efficiency, and production capabilities.
• Set up and operate shop equipment such as lathes, drill presses, grinders, horizontal and vertical band saws, end mills, pipe threaders, and other metalworking tools to repair or fabricate parts.
• Dismantle devices and machinery using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools to access and remove defective components, then reassemble and test equipment.
• Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and ladder logic diagrams to diagnose and resolve complex maintenance and automation issues.
• Support PLC troubleshooting efforts, working with ladder logic to identify faults and assist in resolving control system problems.
• Complete work orders, maintenance records, and related documentation accurately in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Maintain plumbing and electrical service to the building and surrounding property as needed, ensuring all systems function properly.
• Collaborate with and take direction from the Maintenance Supervisor to ensure maintenance activities are prioritized and executed efficiently.
• Follow all safety protocols, participate in regular safety training, and maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area.
• Respond to maintenance needs in a timely manner, including working overtime when required to support production and equipment reliability.
• Adhere to all facility policies and procedures while supporting continuous improvement initiatives in maintenance processes and equipment performance.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
• At least 5+ years of experience with 480v electrical troubleshooting and repair.
• Strong experience with multi-craft maintenance with approximately 75% electrical and 25% mechanical responsibilities.
• Hands-on experience troubleshooting PLCs, including ladder logic, in an industrial setting.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical drawings to support troubleshooting and repair activities.
• Proficiency in replacing electrical components such as fuses, switches, solenoids, sensors, and relays.
• Demonstrated experience with mechanical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, and automation equipment.
• Solid understanding of preventive maintenance practices for industrial machinery and facility systems.
• Capability to perform minor electrical repairs safely and in compliance with applicable standards.
• Ability to use hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools to dismantle and reassemble equipment.
• Comfort working on a 7pm–7am night shift on a 3-3-4-4 rotation, with the flexibility to work overtime when needed.
• Ownership of a complete set of personal tools appropriate for industrial maintenance work.
• Physical ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and perform tasks that require standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, and using hands for fine manipulation.
• Effective communication skills to talk, hear, and coordinate with team members and supervisors in a fast-paced environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in industries such as paper and corrugated, film, vinyl, printing, or engraving, or other environments with strong maintenance processes.
• n industrial automation and electrical maintenance in manufacturing facilities.
• Familiarity with industrial maintenance best practices in facilities with both older and newer equipment.
• Comfort working in a non-climate-controlled environment around large industrial machinery.
• Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for tracking work orders and maintenance history.
• Ability to adapt to a structured shift schedule with a known rotation, which supports personal planning and work-life balance.
• Attention to detail and a strong commitment to safety and equipment reliability.
• Willingness to participate in ongoing training and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Vision capabilities suitable for industrial work, including close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.
• Openness to further education and skill development, including utilizing tuition reimbursement programs when available.

Work Environment

There are around 125 employees on site, and safety is a core priority, supported by monthly training and a strong investment in protecting everyone in the workplace. All current openings are on the night shift, running 7pm–7am on a 3-3-4-4 schedule, providing a predictable rotation for planning personal time. The environment involves working around large industrial equipment, using shop machinery such as lathes, drill presses, grinders, band saws, end mills, and pipe threaders, as well as hoists and cranes. Dress is typical for an industrial setting, with appropriate work boots supported by an employee boot voucher program once hired directly.

This is a Permanent position based out of Wooster, OH.

The pay range for this position is $52000.00 - $70000.00/yr.
