The Boyd County Sheriff's Office is looking for a deputy sheriff. Ideal candidates will have some type of law enforcement certification, but non certfied applicants are encouraged to apply. The position requires the deputy to respond to calls for service, enforce traffic and criminal laws, assist the public, serve civil process, and other duties as required. We have modern equipment and newer patrol vehicles. We supply uniforms, duty gear, firearms, and all other items required for the job. Starting wage will be between $26-$31 per hour depending upon certification and experience. Boyd County also offers a $4000 hiring bonus to certified candidates who are selected, half of which would be paid after completion of 6 months probation, the other half after completing 1 year of service. The state of Nebraska also offers a $7500 hiring bonus to officers meet the following criteria: 1. New certification 2. Reactivating Nebraska certification 3. Getting certified through reciprocity from another state.
We are a small agency in a rural part of Nebraska. We have the Niobrara River to our south and the Missouri River on our northeast side. Fort Randall Dam is a short drive away as are other public hunting and fishing locations.
