Job Title: Electrical Technician

Job Description

This role focuses on installing electrical drives into cranes and supporting fabrication work in a metal shop environment. You will work with hand tools, overhead cranes, and material handling equipment to build, assemble, and prepare steel and aluminum components while maintaining a safe, clean, and organized workspace.

Responsibilities

• Install electrical drives into cranes according to specifications and blueprints.
• Perform fabrication of machined parts and metal components as required for production.
• Use overhead cranes, fork trucks, hand carts, and dollies to handle and manipulate product components safely.
• Coordinate with administrative staff to ensure job orders are completed accurately and efficiently.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area at all times.
• Remove visible oil, grease, soil, cutting compounds, and other soluble contaminants from steel and aluminum surfaces.
• Remove loose mill scale, loose rust, and other loose foreign matter from steel surfaces to prepare them for subsequent processes.
• Use hand tools, grinders, and measuring tools such as tape measures to perform precise fabrication and assembly work.
• Follow electrical and mechanical troubleshooting practices to support installation and service activities.
• Wear appropriate safety and protective equipment and comply with all safety policies and procedures.
• Support general production activities as needed within the metal shop.

Essential Skills

• Electrical technician work history with experience in wiring and electrical installation.
• Experience working in a metal shop or heavy manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency with hand tools, including grinders and other fabrication tools.
• Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately.
• Comfort working around machinery and in a metal fabrication setting.
• Experience with material handling equipment such as overhead cranes and fork trucks.
• Ability to read and follow blueprints and job instructions.
• Strong mechanical aptitude for installation, service, and troubleshooting tasks.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Metals work history or experience working with steel and aluminum components.
• Experience in fabrication, including cutting, grinding, and preparing metal surfaces.
• Familiarity with general production processes in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to work independently in individual work cells while collaborating with other departments as needed.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a safe and clean work area.

Work Environment

This position is based in a metal shop manufacturing facility with a company size of approximately 25 people. The work takes place in a large warehouse building with mostly individual work cells, many of which focus on welding, painting, and related metal fabrication processes. You will work primarily on the first shift from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and spend most of your time on the shop floor using overhead cranes, fork trucks, hand carts, dollies, and a variety of hand tools. The environment involves regular exposure to machinery, metal components, and industrial equipment, and you will be expected to wear appropriate safety and protective attire in accordance with company safety standards.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Las Vegas, NV.

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr.
