Mechanical Assembler/Repair Technician

International machine tool builder company is seeking full-time Mechanical Assembler/Repair Technician to perform a wide variety of tasks associated with assembling and rebuilding machine tool components at our facility in Erie PA. Mechanical background with precision assembly, setting bearings, gear play and ability to operate tool room equipment required. They are seeking a dedicated Precision Assembler/Repair Technician to join their manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for assembling, repairing, and maintaining complex mechanical components with precision and attention to detail. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, hands-on experience with assembly line processes, and familiarity with factory environments. Core competencies include precision mechanical assembly, bearing installation & preload setting, gearbox assembly & gear play adjustment, mechanical repair & rebuild, metric & inch blueprint interpretation, precision measurement & inspection, toolroom machine operation, OEM assembly documentation, mechanical troubleshooting & root cause, and clean assembly practices.

Technical skills encompass mechanical assembly, rolling-element bearing installation (heated / press fit), shaft, housing, and tolerance stack-up assemblies, gear trains, couplings, splines, and keyed shafts, mechanical alignment and fit verification, measurement & metrology, micrometers (OD / ID / depth), dial indicators & test indicators, bore gauges, height gauges & surface plates, feeler gauges & torque tools, toolroom equipment, documentation reading and following detailed assembly drawings, working from German-style OEM prints and BOMs, and recording assembly measurements and settings.

Must possess a high attention to detail and dimensional accuracy, be comfortable working to tight tolerances and OEM specifications, have disciplined torque, cleanliness, and inspection practices, and take pride in craftsmanship and repeatable results. An associate degree or technical diploma is preferred in mechanical technology, machine tool technology, or industrial maintenance from a technical school or community college. Additional needs include the ability to work day or second shift, be willing to work overtime and weekends as required by workload, be comfortable with limited travel (up to ~25%), and be eligible to work in the United States.
