Heavy Equipment Diesel Mechanic (PM)

Overview Dobbs Equipment is seeking an experienced Preventative Maintenance Service Technician to perform high‑quality lubrication and periodic maintenance on heavy equipment. The role requires a strong customer service focus, adherence to safety policies, and the ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays. Responsibilities Perform preventive maintenance, including lubrication, fluid replacement, and filter changes on heavy equipment. Conduct thorough machine inspections and identify potential issues. Use troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve equipment problems. Prepare accurate service reports and documentation. Maintain a clean and safe work area. Communicate regularly with the Service Manager regarding equipment status and needs. Participate in ongoing training and service initiatives. Represent the dealership professionally at all times. Qualifications Valid Class B CDL driver’s license with a clean driving record. Associate degree from a two‑year college or technical school, or equivalent experience. Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems in industrial equipment. Ability to perform routine maintenance and basic repairs using specified tools and manuals. Good communication skills and strong problem‑solving abilities. Excellent time management and self‑management skills. Ability to lift and carry between 50–75 lbs, work in varied temperature and noise conditions, and use personal protective equipment. Flexible schedule; willingness to work overtime and travel when required. Physical Demands Use full range of motion for arms, hands, arms, and legs; climb and descend equipment up to 4 feet. Lift or carry up to 75 lbs frequently. Operate hand tools and hydraulic systems on equipment. Wear respirators, welding shields, hard hats, vests, safety glasses, gloves, and other protective gear as required. Work Environment Work is performed in a service shop with exposure to changing temperatures, wet or humid conditions, noise, vibration, fumes, odors, dust, and close proximity to moving mechanical parts.
