CEC has experienced significant recent growth and has established itself as the go-to supplier for a diversified product line supporting a wide spectrum of markets from commercial products, military customers, to space research laboratories.The Senior Mechanical Engineer is a senior level individual contributor responsible for designing and analyzing mechanical and electro-mechanical products and systems. The Sr. ME is the technical expert for all products assigned. This individual is responsible for product design, alignment across functional teams, regular communication of progress, as well as escalation of any issues/blockers. The Sr. ME is the mechanical technology owner of the product development.ResponsibilitiesEvaluate mechanical and electromechanical systems and products by designing and conducting research programs, applying principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, hydraulics, heat transfer, and materialsConfirm system and product capabilities by designing feasibility and testing methods and testing propertiesDevelop mechanical and electromechanical products by studying customer requirements, researching and testing manufacturing and assembly methods and materials, and soliciting feedback from operatorsDevelop manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for fabricating, building, assembling, and installing componentsAssure system and product quality by designing testing methods, testing finished product and system capabilities, and confirming fabrication, assembly, and installation processesPrepare technical reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trendsMaintain product and company reputation by complying with government regulationsMaintain system and product database by writing computer programs and/or entering dataInterface with a cross functional team, such as Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, and Technicians to ensure requirements compliance throughout the entirety of a projectMaintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societiesProvide mentorship and technical guidance to less experienced engineers, designers, technicians and other team membersContribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as neededProficient in simulation and analysis using industry-standard softwareCreatively solve complex problems using a variety of available tools and resourcesWork within a broader program team and be able to communicate across functional boundaries to solve problems and achieve common goalsQualificationsBS in Mechanical Engineering or related field8+ years of experience in mechanical design and analysisExpertise in advanced solid modeling with proficiency in creating complex geometric models (Autodesk Inventor preferred)Experience with drafting principles and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) in accordance with ASME Y14.5Proven technical writing skills, including creation of clear, concise documentation for engineering projectsAdvanced understanding of heat transfer principles, strength of materials, materials selection methodologies, with the ability to apply theoretical concepts to unique, real-world mechanical design challengesPerform thermal and structural analysis using industry tools (FEA & CFD)Excellent written and verbal communication skillsSelected candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance issued by the U.S. Government throughout the course of their employment.Physical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as your job level, geographic location, date of hire, experience, job-related knowledge and skills, and education in conjunction with market and business considerations.Base salary is one component of your total rewards package.
