This role resolves routine specimen issues, maintains freezers and inventory, and guides entry-level staff on departmental procedures.What You'll Be Doing:Accession, identify, sort, label, store, and ship clinical specimens while maintaining complete traceability and accountabilityInvestigate routine accessioning issues, identify errors or potential problems, and escalate complex matters to the appropriate senior staffNotify customers of specimen receipt and respond to routine inquiries clearly, accurately, and promptlyMaintain freezers, specimen inventory, equipment, and associated records, and notify the appropriate staff of supply shortagesGuide entry-level employees on basic departmental procedures and support the onboarding of new staffSupport after-hours alarms and other job-critical functions when requiredCommunicate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders and represent Specimen Management on assigned projectsFollow company procedures, applicable regulatory guidelines, and safety, quality, and 6S requirementsWhat We Are Looking For:Bachelor's degree in a natural science field or equivalent required; Bachelor of Science in a life science preferredLaboratory experience preferredShipping and receiving experience preferredBasic knowledge of laboratory systems, specimen accessioning procedures, freezer maintenance, and inventory managementKnowledge of Good Laboratory Practice regulations preferredProficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and ExcelOther equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be accepted in lieu of degreeThe Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Needed for This Role:Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate specimen identification, documentation, traceability, and accountabilityAbility to navigate laboratory systems, follow relevant procedures, and resolve routine operational challengesEffective organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneouslyClear and timely written and verbal communication skillsAbility to identify potential problems, assess their impact, and escalate issues appropriatelySelf-motivation and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a teamAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, managers, clients, and cross-functional stakeholdersCommitment to continuing education, regulatory compliance, safety, quality, and 6S practicesWhat We Offer You:We put our employees at the center of everything we do and are committed to providing them, and their families, with benefits that meet their diverse and changing needs. The actual base pay offered may vary based on a number of factors including job-related qualifications such as knowledge, skills, education, and experience; location; and/or schedule (full or part-time).
