Cardiology Cath Lab Technician

The Radiology / Cardiology Cath Lab Technician is responsible for performing specialized diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures in an acute care hospital setting. This role involves equipment setup, patient monitoring, and assisting with invasive cardiac procedures while adhering to sterile techniques and infection control standards. The technician collaborates with the healthcare team to ensure patient safety and effective procedural outcomes. A minimum of one year of relevant experience and required certifications are mandatory, with on-call duties and weekend work as part of the schedule. Responsibilities:

• Perform diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures including stent placement, IABP placement/removal, left and right heart catheterizations, PCI, PTCA, and cardiac implant closure device procedures.
• Set up and prepare cath lab equipment and supplies prior to procedures.
• Recognize and respond to life-threatening arrhythmias during procedures.
• Maintain sterile technique and adhere to isolation precautions to prevent infection.
• Interpret dysrhythmias and assist with scrub procedures during cardiac interventions.
• Document patient care and procedural data accurately using Cerner electronic medical record system.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure patient safety and procedural success.
• Participate in on-call rotation and respond to call as needed.
• Comply with hospital policies and procedures, including infection control and safety standards.

• Active certifications in ACLS, BLS, ARRT, and RCIS.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in diagnostic and interventional cardiac cath lab settings.
• Proficient in cardiac cath lab procedures such as stent placement, IABP management, and PCI.
• Knowledge of sterile technique and infection control practices.
• Ability to recognize and manage life-threatening arrhythmias.
• Experience with Cerner electronic medical records system.
• Active licensure as required for the role.

• Experience working in a Level I trauma center or Magnet hospital.
• Familiarity with rotablader atherectomy and advanced interventional cardiac procedures.
• Previous experience with isolation precautions in acute care settings.
• Comfort working with middle and older adult patient populations.

• On-call duties required with a rotating schedule alongside staff and agency personnel.
• Weekend work required approximately 2-3 weekends per contract.
• Must adhere to RTO restrictions ideally not exceeding 5 days off.
• Guaranteed hours subject to client call-offs with specific billing conditions.
• Block schedule accommodations available upon discussion with management.
• Must have reliable transportation; parking permit required but no cost.

• 3 shifts per week, each 12 hours long, scheduled from 06:30 to 19:00 (day shifts).
• Schedule includes weekend shifts and on-call rotation.
• Schedule flexibility and block scheduling options available upon manager approval.
