Custodian

Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable individual to join our team as a Custodian at Hamilton High School. The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. This full-time position requires attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Responsibilities
- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance tasks, including sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors, dusting surfaces, and cleaning restrooms.
- Ensure all classrooms, hallways, and common areas are kept clean and organized.
- Empty trash receptacles and dispose of waste in accordance with school policies.
- Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and notify management when supplies are low.
- Assist with minor repairs and maintenance of school facilities as needed.
- Set up and take down furniture and equipment for school events and activities.
- Ensure safety and compliance with health regulations in all cleaning practices.
- Respond to emergency cleaning requests in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with other staff members to maintain a positive school environment.
- Report any safety hazards or maintenance issues to the appropriate personnel.

Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous custodial or janitorial experience is a plus.
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies, as well as safety procedures.
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment and tools effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Good physical stamina and ability to lift and move heavy objects.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work evenings or weekends as needed.
- Ability to pass a fingerprint-based background check per school board policy.
