Orthopedic Physical Therapist

Role Overview

The Physical Therapist provides medically prescribed therapy to relieve pain, restore function, prevent disability, and promote patient performance.

Responsibilities include

• planning and conducting therapy programs involving exercises, manual techniques, heat, water, light, and electrical treatments
• performing diagnostic and functional tests
• guiding patients through active/passive exercises, gait training, and use of assistive devices
• managing equipment such as ultrasound and diathermy machines
• treating wounds
• instructing on postural control and therapeutic exercises
• documenting patient progress
• supervising support staff
• and participating in training students and staff.

Qualifications

Requires a Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) post-2015, with licensure as a Physical Therapist. Certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and pelvic health are required or preferred. Experience expectations include a specified number of years and type of experience, with additional certifications advantageous.
