Position: Purchasing Assistant Location: Danville, IL Job Id: 184 # of Openings: 1 Job Summary: Compiles information and records to prepare purchase orders for procurement of material by performing the following duties. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Verifies classification system and specifications of purchase requests. Maintain working knowledge of Steel Grip products, specifications, and procedures. Process "Purchasing Change" form and document information. Maintain effective filing system for all purchasing related documentation. Search inventory records or warehouse to determine if material on hand is in sufficient quantity. Consult catalogs and interviews suppliers to obtain prices and specifications. Prepare invitation of bid forms and mails forms to supplier firms or for public posting. Prepare purchase orders and send copy to supplier and department making the request. Work with suppliers to resolve issues with defective materials. Conduct regular stock checks and reconcile discrepancies. Participate in year-end inventory process. Compile records of items purchased or transferred between departments, prices, deliveries, and inventories. Compute total cost of items purchased. Compare prices, specifications, and delivery dates and awards contract to bidders or places orders with suppliers or mail order firms. Verifies bills from suppliers with bids and purchase orders and approves bills for payment. Other duties as assigned.
