Our Purpose: Bringing quality, safety, and sustainability to life.What are we looking for?The Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) is responsible for independently performing welding inspections and quality oversight activities associated with a new construction direct buried chilled water piping project in accordance with ASME B31.1 requirements and project specifications. The successful candidate will provide daily reporting, maintain detailed weld tracking documentation, and support overall project quality and safety objectives. The project work is located in Austin, TX.Shift/Schedule: 5 days per week / 10-hour shifts Estimated Project Duration: Approximately 12 weeks Estimated Start Date: Around June 10, 2026What you'll do:Perform visual weld inspections in accordance with ASME B31.1 and project specificationsMonitor welding activities for compliance with approved WPSs and applicable proceduresVerify welder qualifications and welding documentationMaintain detailed weld logs including weld numbers, welder IDs, WPS utilized, material traceability, NDE status, repair tracking, and weld completion statusGenerate accurate daily inspection reports documenting work progress, quality issues, and field observationsCoordinate with project management, QA/QC personnel, and field supervisionIdentify and document non-conforming conditionsVerify proper material handling and fit-up practicesAssist with turnover documentation and final quality records as requiredMaintain a strong commitment to safe work practices and site safety requirementsMinimum Requirements & Qualifications:Current AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certificationDemonstrated experience with ASME B31.1 piping systemsExperience with new construction piping projectsAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionStrong understanding of welding procedures, weld documentation, and quality control processesProficient with daily reporting and weld tracking documentationStrong communication and organizational skillsCommitment to safety and quality workmanshipAbility to work a 5x10 schedule for the duration of the projectValid driver's license and reliable driving record requiredCandidates must be authorized to work in the United StatesPreferred Requirements & Qualifications:Familiarity with piping isometrics and weld mapsExperience coordinating with NDE personnel and turnover teamsIndustrial piping inspection experience preferredIntertek: Total Quality.
