Residential Appraiser I

Overview This job is for a Residential Appraiser in St. Louis County. The appraiser conducts property inspections, researches and reviews information, and prepares appraisals for residential and agricultural properties. The salary is $30.18–$42.65 per hour, including longevity pay. The role is covered by the Civil Service Basic Unit Employees Collective Bargaining Agreement, represented by Council 5 of AFSCME. Key Responsibilities Conduct inspections of residential and agricultural properties to determine conditions, improvements, measurements, and locations. Research property descriptions, deeds, and related documents. Review information with property owners and other stakeholders to assess accuracy. Prepare accurate appraisals based on available information. Perform work under the direction of assigned supervisory staff. Work Environment Typical physical requirements: Frequent lifting/pushing/pulling up to 10 lb, carrying/pushing 10 lb, standing, walking, hearing, vision, and working alone or with others inside/outside. Occasional lifting of 11–20 lb, climbing stairs, use of headset, customer contact. Rare lifting of 21–100 lb, crouching, kneeling, stooping, dealing with behavioral challenges, extended day. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Valid driver’s license. Evaluation & Screening Applicants must complete supplemental questions 8–13. Scoring of these questions constitutes 100 % of the evaluation. Supplemental question scoring dates: July 27, 2026. Interviews: August 10, 2026. Screening will begin July 9, 2026. Other Requirements Drug testing (must pass). Background investigation. Submission of employment eligibility documents within three days of first day. 12‑month probationary period before permanent certification.
