Job Title: Chemical Operator
Location: Commerce, CA 90040
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, from 9:00 am 5:30 pm
Pay Rate: USD 20 USD 25 per hour based on experience
Contract Type: TTH
Job Description: The Chemical Operator reports to the Production Supervisor and is responsible for safety, evaluating daily production requirements through SAP, and executing the production plan. Duties include completing all quality control functions and documentation, scheduling and performing unloading/loading of tankers, rail cars, and totes, and participating in shipping and receiving activities. Safe operation of a fork truck and compliance with dock safety are mandatory.
Responsibilities:
- Perform all operations in compliance with safety policies, PPE requirements, and regulations
- Assist with inventory counts and reconciliations
- Meet production quality, throughput, and customer demand standards
- Participate in EHS Safety programs and meetings
- Inform supervisor of issues affecting throughput or delivery
- Ensure lab and QA procedures are followed and documentation is completed
- Oversee shipping/receiving: schedule, label, load/unload, and document all orders and shipments in SAP
- Maintain plant housekeeping and report maintenance needs
- Attend team meetings to suggest process improvements relating to safety, quality, and efficiency
- Participate in employee coaching and mentoring
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Fork truck operating license required (must have certification in hand on first day, if selected)
- Computer and Microsoft application proficiency (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SAP)
- Proficient in English reading, writing, and math
- Excellent communication skills
- 2 years' experience in chemical manufacturing or distribution preferred
- Strong commitment to safety, quality, and customer service
- Ability to operate a forklift safely
- Ability to follow detailed written and oral instructions
Special Requirements:
- Must be able to work indoors or outdoors, lift up to 50 lbs, and climb stairs
- May require weekend and/or holiday work based on business needs
- Frequently exposed to wet/humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, chemicals, heights, fumes, heat, noise, and vibration.
