Job Summary

Under the direction of the Student Nutrition Supervisor performs and serves hot and cold food items at an assigned production kitchen; maintains food service facilities, equipment and utilities in a clean and sanitary condition. This position requires the ability to work effectively with others and the population served.

Job Description / Essential Elements

Food Service Assistant is one of the cafeteria staff whose major duties are in the preparation, cooking, packaging, and serving of school lunches. Pleasant, cordial service of attractive, nutritionally-sound meals represent primary objectives of the District's Food Service Program.

Qualifications:

• Ability to follow directions, written and oral.
• Ability to learn quickly.
• Knowledge of and ability to use proper sanitary methods in food preparation and storage, and in maintaining food service facilities.
• Knowledge of safety precautions necessary in the use of cafeteria equipment.
• Ability to read recipes; to modify recipes for different quantities.
