Facilities Manager

Responsible for delivering superior care, maintenance, and cleanliness of the school building and grounds. Ensure the school building is ready each morning, up to code, and equipped with everything the staff needs to carry out the mission effectively. Supervise Lead Custodian during the school year and coordinate other outside vendors to achieve superior cleaning & maintenance standards. Liaison with Building & Grounds Committee to address current concerns and future maintenance needs. Qualifications Experience and Training Mechanical aptitude and skills Possess a working knowledge of the HVAC and mechanical systems Experience with basic electrical, plumbing, and carpentry Ability to operate a snowplow and hydraulic lift Active member/regular attendee of a church that aligns with CPCS Statement of Faith. Demonstrate a strong work ethic. Self-motivated with good time management skills. Physically able to lift, carry, and move heavy or bulky items. Communicate effectively with team members and staff Must multitask, train, delegate, and work effectively with interruptions. Establish effective, healthy working relationships without compromising work completion. Exhibit a willing, positive attitude to help where needed. Respond kindly and promptly to staff needs and requests, clearly communicating when higher priorities may delay a response. Responsibilities Open the school building each morning by 6:30 am and check for proper operation of all systems, including heating, air conditioning, plumbing, and electrical. Verify the public usability of the parking lot, sidewalks, and main entrance. Remove snow/ice from front entrances and sidewalks by 7:15 am when staff begin to arrive. Spread salt on sidewalks in front entrances and around the playground when ice is present. Operate and maintain the mechanical systems, including heating, air conditioning, electrical, and plumbing. Obtain approval of the Director of Operations before placing a service call. Schedule and document regular fire and stove/oven inspections as required by code. Assemble, tag, move, and maintain furniture, equipment, and supplies as needed. Set up and take down chairs, tables, and risers for internal events, including but not limited to chapels, professional development, conferences, and meetings. Volunteers will be requested to assist with gym setup/takedown for large events such as concerts. Assist with landscaping needs and contracts, including but not limited to lawn mowing, fertilizing, weed spraying/pulling, grass watering, and maintaining mulch. Perform minor repairs on equipment, furniture, and building structure. Inspect the work of custodial staff to ensure that superior standards of cleanliness are met. If standards are not met, work with the Lead Custodian to rectify the situation. Monitor inventory of building supplies and order as needed. Maintain records and ensure safe handling and storage of flammable and/or dangerous chemicals. Maintain neat and well-stocked maintenance rooms and storage closets. Organize and store construction materials for future repairs/touch-ups. Assist IT staff and contractors with wiring needs and A/V projects. Work with the Director of Operations to maintain a quick reference book of vendor contacts, operating manuals, and warranties. Collaborate with Lead Custodian to recruit, train, assign, and supervise summer staff. Request quotes and review invoices of contracted B&G projects and services.
