HR & Workplace Safety Manager (Exempt) We are dedicated to introducing and expanding authentic Japanese culinary culture across North America. As a premier food manufacturer and distributor, we specialize in supplying high-quality bento boxes, sushi, and prepared side dishes primarily to Japanese supermarkets, Asian specialty stores, and wholesale distributors. Distinguished as the only U.S.-based company offering flash-frozen Japanese cuisine delivered straight to our partners, our presence has rapidly grown beyond California to major markets nationwide, including Texas, Arizona, Ohio, and New York. Additionally, we directly supply major international airlines and partner with top in-flight catering providers to deliver premium Japanese inflight meals. We are seeking a HR & Workplace Safety Manager to join our manufacturing operations. This role requires bilingual proficiency in English and Japanese, along with hands‑on HR experience in a food or general manufacturing environment, to support employee relations, onboarding, and safety program compliance while serving as a crucial bridge between management and frontline team members. Essential Duties Handle employee recruitment, hiring procedures, orientation, and onboarding processes. Maintain personnel records, including time/attendance, leaves, and employee demographics. Address employee inquiries, concerns, and grievances promptly and professionally. Collaborate with managers to manage employee relations and resolve workplace issues. Communicate and explain company policies, handbook guidelines, and HR procedures to employees. Support employee training, professional development, and retention initiatives. Assist managers with HR processes such as performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and attendance tracking. Prepare and manage HR‑related reports, documentation, and compliance files. Ensure strict confidentiality of all HR‑sensitive information. Foster an inclusive and supportive work environment for a culturally diverse workforce. Administer and improve Occupational Safety and Health (EHS) programs tailored to the manufacturing floor. Conduct regular facility walkthroughs, safety inspections, and hazard risk assessments. Lead safety training sessions, including new‑hire safety orientations and ongoing refresher courses. Investigate, record, and document workplace accidents, injuries, near‑misses, and safety hazards. Analyze root causes of safety incidents and implement corrective/preventative actions. Oversee safety protocols related to machinery, personal protective equipment (PPE), chemicals, and sanitation procedures. Ensure proper use and compliance of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) across the plant. Manage emergency response plans, evacuation procedures, and disaster drills. Lead and manage the Safety Committee, including preparing meeting materials and official logs. Coordinate with executive leadership, production, QA teams, and regulatory agencies. Ensure full compliance with federal/state workplace safety regulations (OSHA) and internal standards. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety awareness and build a proactive safety culture.
