Position Overview The Department is seeking a detail‑oriented professional to manage dietary operations within a correctional setting. The ideal candidate will serve as the lead Food Service Supervisor, responsible for mid‑level management of inventory and personnel. We invite qualified applicants to apply. Essential Functions Provides input into food production by directing proper health, sanitation, and safety standards in preparing, serving, and storing foods. Plans, schedules, and publishes menus for general and therapeutic diets. Directs and monitors staff training in food preparation. Serves as a Food Services Program Manager in the supervisor’s absence. Performs other duties within the scope of the position as required. Minimum Qualifications Equivalent to four (4) years of high school completion. At least three (3) years of institutional food preparation experience, such as a Corrections Food Service Supervisor I or II, or supervisory experience in a large‑scale food operation. Current Food Service Sanitation Certificate issued by the Illinois Department of Public Health, or a Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM) certification from an ANSI‑accredited program. Preferred Qualifications Minimum five (5) years of experience in access control, space assignment, equipment handling, or inventory management. At least four (4) years of experience communicating verbally and in writing. At least four (4) years of experience ordering supplies, processing invoices, and distributing materials. At least four (4) years of accounting, auditing, or inventory method experience. At least four (4) years of experience handling written or numerical data. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel. At least three (3) years with the SAP platform. At least two (2) years of experience evaluating inventory management issues. At least two (2) years of supervisory experience. At least one (1) year dealing with confidential information. Conditions of Employment Completion of an orientation training course within six months of employment. Background check and drug screen clearance required. Compliance with the Illinois Governmental Ethics Act’s Statement of Economic Interest requirements. Adherence to revolving‑door restrictions under 5 ILCS 430/5‑45.
